About this template
A rent payment form gives a tenant one link to pay by card instead of setting up a transfer and typing a reference by hand. The month being paid is a required field, so a landlord with several properties is never left working out which of four similar payments covers which flat.
The payment type question is the one that saves the awkward conversation. A tenant paying rent plus arrears, or making a part payment that was agreed on the phone, says so at the point of paying, and the record shows it. Without that, a short payment looks identical to a late one.
The repair question sits on the same form because rent day is the one day of the month you are certain to hear from every tenant. A dripping tap reported in the same step is a tap that gets fixed before it becomes a ceiling.
Card payments go through Stripe on your own account. Set the amount to the rent for that property, or publish one copy of the form per property so every tenant sees the right figure.

Frequently asked questions
- Can tenants pay rent online with a form?
- Yes. Connect Stripe, set the rent amount, and send the link. The tenant pays by card and the submission is saved with the month, the property, and their name attached, so matching a payment to a tenancy does not mean reading a bank statement.
- How do I handle different rents for different properties?
- Publish one copy of the form for each property and set the amount on each. The payment field charges a fixed figure, so one form per property is clearer for the tenant than asking them to type an amount they might get wrong.
- Can I collect rent automatically every month?
- Use the Recurring Payment Form template instead. It uses a subscription field, which charges the same card on a monthly cycle until it is cancelled, rather than waiting for the tenant to remember to visit the form.
- Are card fees worth it for rent?
- That is a judgement call. Stripe takes a percentage of every payment, which on a rent sized figure is real money, so many landlords use this alongside bank transfer rather than instead of it. It earns its place with tenants who pay late without it.
